Trying to find some downtime after the Paralympics

Hey World!

So this will be my first ever blog that I’ve done… pretty sweet if you ask me. I’m guessing this will be some form of high-tech social networking where I can keep in touch with those interested in what my life is like. Without further ado… here I am!

It’s been roughly two months since the 2010 Paralympic Games have come to a close, and my life has not slowed down at all. Since the Games I’ve had the good fortune to be able to travel all over B.C. as a professional speaker, and share my stories and experiences with a wide variety of new and old friends.

My travels took me from an incredibly warm welcome home in Kimberley (and much needed reconnection with my good friends from back in the day), to Port Alberni, Victoria, and Vancouver. I don’t want to bore you with details, so let’s just say that I’ve traveled several thousand miles in the last few months and connected with just as many sweet peeps.

In all of the running around that I’ve been doing I’ve hardly had a chance to catch my breath, and enjoy some quality time at home to reflect on all the good things that have been going on. That’s something I’m missing a whole lot right now, time at home with the ones that I love ~ mainly my special lady.

Last night I had an abrupt change in my plans for the week… one of those things in life that you can’t control. It’s another opportunity to go with the flow and adapt to new circumstances — a brilliant skill that I have drawn from my sport and applied to my personal life.

It looks like I’ll be home for few days before getting back at it for the month of June… so stoked to be at home hanging with my peeps that matter the most, and puttering away on my little home improvement projects (I’m so into wood working right now).

Up next? I’m not sure and I love it that way. My calendar tells me that I’m heading out east pretty soon, and that lots of cool opportunities are lining up here in the Okanagan as well.

Until next time…

JD
